This morning was very difficult to get going. Out of habit I got up around 4:30 AM anyway and got ready to go into my garage gym. As I did my best to wake up while staring at my squat rack and all the heavy equipment, I noticed that not only were my top eyelids closing, but the bottom ones didn’t want to cooperate either. I decided that the situation was perfect to acquire an injury or two, so without thinking much more about it I turned around and went back to bed.

The rest of the day I was very tired and very hungry, all day, still am. It appears that I woke up right at the tail-end of my last REM cycle; that’s problem number one. Problem number two is fueling throughout the day based on increased running mileage, but it’s not that simple as this is a delicate balance right around this time of the year for me. So, I know what’s going on and I’m working on adjusting within a week or so.

Needless to say, this afternoon’s meditation was mostly full of clicking out, spacing out, and generally just enjoying being present and still. I definitely needed that today.
