Field Notes 20260522 - Friday

This Friday morning I got up at 4:30 AM and hit the road for a leisurely 10.5 mile run. The run was good aside from one small detail: I let the ego dictate my pace because there are more runners on the trails now that the weather is nice again.

My resulting average pace was exactly the same as my faster runs through the week, and that needs correcting. Fridays are for long, slow runs to build aerobic base, improve endurance, and strengthen joints and muscles. It’s the most important run of the week because it has a direct impact on lowering the average pace, but only if I keep it nice and easy.

I need to remember how to down-shift on these long Friday runs.

Afternoon

  • Sun: Gemini 1°
  • Moon: Leo 24° | Waxing Crescent
Meditation
  • 30 Minutes.
  • Expand App, timer section, F18.

Nothing exciting today. Prep was littered with effort to get through. I didn’t make it to F18 (heart energy); I barely made it to F12 (expanded awareness). The primary goal for this session was to recover under a red light lamp, and that was achieved.

I was physically tired before the meditation, and I’m still physically tired after it. Long weekend ahead with longer sessions, so I’m keeping my focus and expectations light but hopeful for more immersive consciousness explorations to come.
