The ankle started to talk again.

Field Notes 20260610 - Wednesday

Coming back to a full physical week from a deload week is always an interesting balancing act. On one hand, I want to open full throttle and run 100 mph; on the other hand, I know that’s probably a bad idea, as I need to recondition. Well, I got new “tires” (shoes) and took them out for a morning run this Monday: they are rocketships, and I tore up that 10k. One small problem: the new tires are too aggressive, and my right ankle was shouting at me.

I let the ankle rest yesterday, did some strength training in the morning. The ankle felt great. Both Tuesday morning and today I jumped out of bed having completely forgotten that it was angry and only later remembered the injury. That’s very good. At the end of this morning’s run, however—about 8 miles—the ankle started to talk again.

Time to take the aggressive new shoes back and get into my usual trainers, skip this Friday’s long run, and focus on other important matters before hitting the pavement again next Monday. In the meantime I’ll have to divert my energy elsewhere.

Afternoon
Meditation
  • 30 Minutes.
  • Expand App, timer section, F15 (place with no time).

It was a good meditation, but I didn’t get to F15. Too tired, too easily dragged into click-outs and brief hypnagogic scenes to move anywhere meaningful. So, it took a while to move out of F10; I ended up resting there for most of the session. I think once I expanded into F12 (expanded awareness), I kind of fizzled out after that. Nothing wrong, just the day and the nature of things.
