Disclosure Day
Field Notes 20260620 - Saturday
Kim and I are celebrating our 12-year anniversary tomorrow, and what better way to commemorate the occasion than going to see a film about aliens and Disclosure. Our actual anniversary is tomorrow but we also have a couple young kids and, as anyone can imagine, planning things in this stage of life is a bit of a juggle and often can get chaotic (finding a babysitter, disrupted routines, etc.).
From a purely entertainment-value standpoint, the film itself is good, and I recommend it. I did end up catching myself thinking “this is priming” several times throughout. Much of my professional career has been either in communications or adjacent to it. If you squint, metaphorically, you can spot where the story continuity or dialogue cracks just a bit and a forced message comes through (priming).
The two examples of this are the use of the word “experiencer” and “don’t fear what you do not know”. I’m also not painting any of this as negative or subversive. I am in alignment with the overall message. This movie is less about the actual Disclosure and more about conditioning for Disclosure. That is the message from start to finish. I feel like a lot of people disappointed with the film missed this either entirely or made up their minds on what it would be about a bit too passionately.
What I did not expect: spike in heart rate and feeling my body react at the end of it all. I knew the ending scene, but I avoided looking up what it would look like or the general atmosphere for it. Now, in general, the ending was good in my opinion. The tall and very old Grey at the end… that brought on a somatic response that I didn’t expect.
It’s one thing to have the flattened memory of the experience, and it’s quite different to see it played out and moving in front of you. Now, my own experience is nothing like what many folks have reported. It’s not even physical. However, I will say this: having an intelligent being drop in on your meditation in the middle of a very sober afternoon isn’t exactly a normal Friday.
Today’s Field Notes illustration:
About two and a half or three years ago, I was lying down and meditating in the afternoon. I wasn’t doing anything complicated, just resting in F10 (mind awake, body asleep).
To my surprise, an elderly grey alien face appeared in front of me. Unlike this tiny illustration, the overall appearance was composed of white and light grey line-work against a black void backdrop. There was a sense of atmosphere, a space between our individual awareness. The being’s face made slight facial adjustments. The face in general was old and weathered. This individual “felt” not just ancient but also wise and completely in control.
