Field Notes 20260624 - Wednesday
Kicking off the new week physically intact and under normal operational conditions. That’s somewhat rare as of late, and I have a feeling it will be a normal situation for a while until my oldest boy returns to school within a couple months.
Today’s Field Notes illustration:
Ten of Swords.” The tenth and final card of the suit of Swords, my rendition of the Rider–Waite–Smith card illustrated by Pamela Colman Smith. A man lies face down on the sand at the edge of a still expanse of water, ten swords driven into his back in a line that traces the length of his spine, a red cloak pushed down around his waist; the sky above him hangs black, while a band of gold breaks low on the horizon where the dawn comes up, distant hills beyond. The card speaks to ruin, finality, and the bottom of a cycle reached. As a meditation focus, its lesson is less about the swords already fallen than about the light already rising behind them: the ordeal spent, the worst over, the morning arriving before the body has even stirred. The last blade is already in, and the dawn is coming up anyway.

The goal today was upkeep and clearing. The decision to go with F18 (heart energy) is pretty obvious for this one, as I often feel the most comfortable at this carrier frequency.
Aside from regular and weekly field clearing and affirmation of sovereignty, I needed to turn my attention toward cutting ties and attachments. I had begun the process last night but ran through it again at the end of this session one more time. It’s bittersweet, intentionally vague, and it is done. Moving on now.
