Get back to work.

Field Notes of Rahgah - 20260821-P1

A quiet contemplation before a lifelong slumber. This one is much like the others; in so many ways they are all the same, and yet the perceived gain is immeasurable. No longer having to prepare for amnesia is a hard-fought upgrade, a relief that arrived many lifetimes ago. The transfer process used to be a bit awkward and jarring, but now it’s essentially routine. Alright, that’s enough. Let’s get on with the action. Lights out.

This week’s mission continues where I left off: stillness and presence, but with added openness and surrender to any experience that may come my way during a session. Why is that an added attribute to last week — can’t you just do that no matter what while practicing? Yes, sure, but I would challenge anyone dealing with sinus issues to make an intent for “experience” when attempting to meditate. Getting to the ideal state was the goal last week, nothing more.

For this afternoon’s session, I put on “Condition D” from “Journeys Out of the Body” by the Monroe Institute. I don’t do this one often except for situations like today. I had no real goal, no real target, nothing in particular at all, and thinking any more about which focus state or what to achieve was counterproductive. So, in this case, don’t think, just put on the track and lie back.

After the usual prep and intro I’ve been doing for years, I quickly settled into F10 (mind awake, body asleep), then expanded into F12 (expanded awareness). I spent a little bit of time really settling into F12 before stating my sovereignty declaration followed by taking an open and receptive posture.

I didn’t have to wait too long; I won’t guess how long exactly, as it’ll never be accurate in trance states. I can say that the experience lasted 2 seconds. Abruptly, my dark and quiet void-filled field of view was overtaken by a familiar scene: I was standing in front of my light table in the office; it was turned on low, a blank sheet of Bristol lying on top of it, a breeze coming from the ceiling fan, the AC unit running, office dim and quiet otherwise.

This is the second of this type of presentation/display/message/occurrence. A couple years ago during a Gateway Experience meditation session, I found myself standing in my fully lit garage gym, leaning back on my workbench, fan blowing across my legs, staring at the squat rack and the yellow Dewalt industrial drum fan hanging from the ceiling, all of it directly in front of me.

Both events were preceded by very similar pre-vision conditions, the exact same duration and fidelity with waking life, and once again I’m left with the same head-scratching situation.

Either way, and in both cases, I think someone was reminding me to get back to work.
